The twins came a little early and had to spend some time in the NICU, so we were there everyday holding them while they slept and singing to them. I had composed a melody earlier and it was during this time that I wrote the lyrics that would become Close Your Eyes and Dream. The variation between the verses reflects the babies’ unique personalities which were apparent from the very beginning.

Hush now, my baby, and please go to sleep.

Your mother and I are here with you.

Oh, it’s ok, my baby.

Rest your head on me.

I will hold you close and sing so sweetly.

It’s ok, go to sleep.

Hush now my baby and please go to sleep.

Your mother and I are here with you.

Oh, It’s ok, my baby.

Close your eyes and dream.

I can see your eyelids getting heavy.

It’s ok, go to sleep.

Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep…
