Jalopy takes its name from an early 20th century term for “an old car in dilapidated condition”. It is a programmatic piece, modeled after ragtime and march music, that utilizes metallic textures and features zany sound effects to depict a rollicking ride in a ramshackle automobile.

Jalopy is dedicated to my grandfather, Cleo Herndon, who taught me the term as a little boy. He was a jolly and brilliant man who saw treasure where others saw trash and who could breathe new life into broken things.

It is available for purchase through Steve Weiss Music and Tapspace Publications.
